Polyester FDY
Polyester FDY also known as Polyester Fully Drawn Yarn is a multi-filament yarn, which is not texturized & hence can be knitted or woven on its own or with any other filament to get different fabrics. This can also be used in combination to make polyester embroidery thread & sewing threads. This is mainly used in fashion fabrics, home textiles, denim, terry towel, and many more applications.
It is produced by using Polyethylene terephthalic acid (PTA) combined with mono ethylene glycol (MEG), extruded at high speed direct from chips into polyester filament yarns. The yarns can be made in waxed as well as in un-waxed varieties. These can be twisted and can be manufactured in a variety of sizes. The most commonly used sizing is 40/2, which is suitable for both knitting and weaving.
The most important property of polyester is its ability to absorb and release water. It is also very soft, which makes it ideal for garments. This fabric is able to retain shape even after washing. This makes it very easy to maintain a good fit in shirts, dresses, and trousers. This is why the fabric is so popular in the garment industry. It is also a great fabric for towels and bed sheets.
It can be dyed either with conventional methods or with the dope-dye process. The latter is an extremely fast and efficient way to produce colors, especially when it comes to bleed resistance and brightness. It is an environmentally friendly process as well. This method is especially useful when it comes to printing or etching on textiles. It is also very popular for making printed and embroidered garments.
Polyester FDY is available in 3 lusters - Semi-dull (SD), Bright having circular sections & Trilobal Bright having triangular cross-sections. This is very widely used in the manufacturing of curtains, carpets, and bedsheets. This luster is very attractive & adds to the beauty of the fabric. It is also available in Raw-white as well as dope dyed. The advantage of the dope-dyed yarn is that you can make a colored fabric directly with the FDY as against making the fabric with FDY Raw-white first & then dyeing it.
Another major feature of this fabric is its strength, elongation, and uniform dyeing properties. It can be dyed in any color and in any pattern. It is also very easy to handle and carries a very good luster after washing. This fabric is a favorite in the fashion industry for its silk-like appearance and feel. It is also widely used in garments, especially women's clothing, because of its ability to keep the shape of a garment and the softness of silk.
This is a very strong, durable, and smooth fabric. It can be used in the production of garments, home textiles, and industrial materials such as bedding, shoes, and packaging. It is a great alternative to cotton. It is also used to produce polyester batting, which can be inserted between layers of wool for added comfort and insulation.
